Updated April 2026
Behind Rankings is a practitioner-led SEO media brand. Every piece of original content here comes from direct experience, including running sites, testing tools, working with brands, and tracking real outcomes.
Guest contributions are held to the same standard.
We accept submissions from established practitioners only: people running their own sites with measurable traction, in-house SEO leads at recognized companies, consultants with a track record of work you can verify, or operators who have built and monetized something real. Generic content marketers, agency writers, and link-building outreach will not receive a response.
Who this is for
A strong contributor typically has:
- A site, role, or body of work you can point to as evidence of expertise
- Direct experience with the topic — not researched, lived
- Specific data — rankings, traffic numbers, revenue, ROI, real case studies
- A clear point of view that reflects your actual practice, not industry consensus
If your pitch reads like it could have been written by someone who has only read about the topic, it’s not a fit for Behind Rankings.
Topics we cover
Pitches must align with one or more of these focus areas:
- SEO — strategy, real ranking case studies, tactics tested on actual sites
- AI Search & LLM Visibility — original experiments with how content gets cited in generative search
- Content Strategy & Operations — frameworks, systems, and approaches you’ve actually run
- SEO & AI Tools — honest reviews based on real use, with specific examples and outcomes
- Content Business & Monetization — real numbers from real businesses, not theoretical revenue strategies
If your topic doesn’t clearly fit one of these areas, it’s not a fit.
Standards
All accepted contributions must meet these standards:
- 1,500+ words of substantive, original content
- Original work — not published elsewhere, not republished afterward
- Specific examples, data, or case studies — generic “best practices” articles will not be accepted
- No AI-generated content — we run detection, and any content flagged as AI-written will be rejected
- Clean structure — clear sections, scannable formatting, original images or screenshots where relevant
- Meta title (under 60 characters) and meta description (under 155 characters) included with submission
- 1–3 links to credible external sources when relevant — Google documentation, peer-reviewed research, primary data sources
- Natural anchor text only — keyword-stuffed or commercial anchors will be removed
What we don’t publish
- Generic “X SEO tips” or “Why content matters” articles
- Content disguised as a guest post but written to promote a product, service, or client
- Recycled or lightly rewritten versions of articles published elsewhere
- Pitches requesting do-follow backlinks to commercial sites
- Topics outside the focus areas above (casino, betting, essay writing, “buy links,” unrelated commercial content)
- Pitches that don’t demonstrate familiarity with Behind Rankings’ actual content
How to pitch
Email [email protected] with:
- A brief description of the article you’d like to write
- A working title plus 3–5 bullet points covering what the article will include
- Specific examples, data, or case studies you’ll draw from
- Your name, role, and a short bio with verifiable links to your work
- One link to a piece of writing you’ve published elsewhere that demonstrates the depth and voice you’ll bring
Pitches missing any of these elements will not receive a response.
After you pitch
If your pitch is a fit, you’ll hear back within 10 business days. The vast majority of pitches we receive don’t meet the bar above, and we don’t reply individually to those that don’t fit.
Accepted contributions go through one round of editing for clarity, accuracy, and brand fit. Contributors retain credit and a byline with a link to their work. We do not publish articles without the contributor’s approval of the final edited version.
Behind Rankings reserves the right to reject any submission at any stage. This policy may be updated without notice; the amendment date is shown at the top of this page.
