I’ve been in SEO since 2019, back when AI wasn’t part of our daily workflow. Honestly, I think those were good times. Many SEOs, myself included, had to actually do the damn work instead of asking AI to do it for us.

I also spent a lot of time testing SEO tools manually to figure out which ones were actually worth paying for and using. SE Ranking was one of them.

SE Ranking launched in 2013, so it’s been on the market for more than 13 years. It’s also still one of the most popular SEO tools out there.

If you’ve been in SEO for a while, you’ve probably heard of SE Ranking. If not, here are a few quick facts I pulled together while researching this review:

  • In 2024, SE Ranking had 1 million users across more than 150 countries.
  • SE Ranking offers its core SEO toolkits for different types of SEO work, SE Visible for tracking AI search visibility, and Planable for managing social media activity.
  • Pricing starts at $129 per month for the Core plan. The plan includes a generous package with 2,000 keywords and 100 prompts tracked daily, five domains in GEO research, MCP access, and more.
  • A 14-day free trial is available

These are just a few quick facts to give you an idea of what SE Ranking offers. From what I’ve seen, it gives you a solid set of features for the price, especially compared with some of the other SEO tools on the market.

I’ve been testing SE Ranking for seven months, so this SE Ranking review is also based on my own hands-on experience with the platform. I’ll cover the key things you need to know, including its main features, MCP, and how it compares with other well-known SEO tools like Semrush and Ahrefs.

This is the first version of the post I published, and I usually come back to my reviews every 3–6 months to update them. So, the comparisons and data you’ll see below are fresh and based on my testing from August and September 2026.

Let’s get into it.

Who it is for

Based on my experience, I’d suggest SE Ranking if you:

  • Manage multiple client accounts at an SEO agency
  • Run a startup and need one tool for different SEO and content marketing tasks
  • Work as an SEO lead at a B2B or SaaS company and want to track both organic and AI search performance
  • Freelance as an SEO specialist and manage SEO projects for clients

I’ve worked full-time at both SaaS and B2B companies and have also run my own small SEO business, so I’ve been on both sides of this. From my experience, all of these users can get a lot out of SE Ranking because it’s a pretty versatile SEO and content marketing platform.

I wouldn’t recommend it for hobbyists or individual site owners, though. It can get expensive, especially if you’re just starting out and don’t have much of a marketing budget yet.

If you are a smaller business owner, I also have a separate guide to SEO tools for small businesses where I cover other options.

SE Ranking vs Semrush vs Ahrefs

When you choose an SEO tool for work, you want to trust the data it provides. After all, your SEO decisions and recommendations depend on those numbers.

That’s why I always compare traffic data from SEO tools with actual performance data from Google Analytics. I know the numbers won’t match 100%, but this comparison gives you a better idea of how each tool’s data compares with real traffic.

Below, you’ll find an organic traffic comparison for my website, Behind Rankings, based on data from SE Ranking, Semrush, and Ahrefs for August and September 2026.

I’m lucky to have access to all three tools, so I can compare their data and put together this table for you.

Here’s what I can summarize from this table:

All the SEO tools I’ve seen, including these ones, are inflating traffic data, some more, while others less. I have a gut feeling they haven’t managed to fully adjust after Google introduced AI Overviews that ate 50–70% of organic traffic in some cases.

In my case, organic traffic used to account for over 70% of total traffic in 2025. Now, in September 2026, it’s just about 43%, which is a huge drop, but many tools haven’t adjusted yet.

AI search metrics differ, so we can’t really assess accuracy, and it doesn’t depend on the tool. It primarily depends on the AI search results, which are dynamic and personalized. So, I wouldn’t obsess over the citations and mentions metrics, given that both metrics show an uptrend for you.

Semrush has always had the biggest backlink database. That’s why it can detect the biggest amount of links. However, SE Ranking beats Semrush when it comes to identifying your ranking keywords, which means you can track and report on more keywords.

On the other hand, SE Ranking is more attractive when it comes to the entry price and offers more value.

So, if you need a broad SEO toolkit that also includes AI search tracking and automation access, SE Ranking gives you quite a lot for the starting price. The main question is whether its limits, interface, and reporting workflow fit the way you actually work.

I also have a more detailed SE Ranking vs Semrush comparison if you want to compare the two SEO platforms.

SE Ranking features

SE Ranking has a lot of SEO features under one roof, which is probably one of its biggest advantages. For some teams, it can replace several separate SEO tools because you get keyword research, rank tracking, competitor research, website audits, backlink analysis, content tools, local SEO, reporting, AI search visibility, and even more, all in one place.

Note that you can connect SE Ranking to any agent or your preferred LLM and power your SEO automations with the data coming from the following SE Ranking tools.

Your Project Dashboard

The Project Dashboard is the place where you can get an overview of your website’s organic and AI search performance. It brings together different reports and metrics related to your project, including keyword rankings, traffic, competitors, website health, backlinks, and AI search visibility.

One thing I find really helpful is that you can customize the dashboard with multiple widgets. You can choose which data you want to see and build a view around the metrics that matter to you.

However, some widgets, like AI Results Tracker, take forever to load (at least for me). That’s why you can’t see the measurements in my screenshot.

This is a small thing, but when you are working with SEO data every day, waiting for a report to load gets annoying pretty quickly.

Screenshot of a metrics dashboard showing organic traffic, keywords, and rankings in a SEO tool

The Keyword Rankings report is where you can monitor how your website performs in organic search for the keywords you track.

You can see ranking positions, changes over time, search volume, traffic potential, SERP features, visibility, and other keyword-level data. You can also segment the data by search engine, country, device, and other parameters.

For an SEO specialist, this is one of the core reports you’ll probably return to regularly because it gives you a quick view of how your tracked keywords rank.

I also like that SE Ranking separates traditional organic rankings from AI search results. This is important because a position in Google’s organic results and a position in an AI Overview are not the same thing.

Competitive Research Toolkit

Inside the Competitive Research Toolkit from SE Ranking, you’ll find a domain analysis toolkit called Google Search, more commonly known as Domain Overview in Semrush or Site Explorer in Ahrefs.

SE Ranking Google Search Report September 2026

Also, SE Ranking separates the Google Search report, which focuses on organic performance split by country, from AI search. If you want to check the AI search performance data for your competitors, you have to use the AI Search report.

It’s pretty detailed, and you can also compare your website to up to 20 competitors at a time.

The report provides a solid overview of the overall state of brand performance across 5 AI tools: AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Gemini.

I was only confused by the fact that I couldn’t see and define the data range myself to know when this data is applicable.

AI search dashboard showing competitors and filters with selected tabs on the left and a 'Add competitors' button on the right (screenshot of analytics tool). Tell user: AI search interface with brand input, selects, and data panels.

Citation report

The Citation report shows you which sources appear in AI-generated answers and when your website or brand gets cited.

This can be useful if you want to see more than just brand mentions. A mention means your brand appeared in an answer. A citation means the AI system used your website as a source and linked to it.

I’ve spent a lot of time checking AI search visibility for my own website, and I think reports like this can be helpful. But I wouldn’t treat the numbers as exact.

AI search results can change depending on the prompt, platform, location, and other factors. I use these reports to look for patterns and see how my visibility changes over time, rather than relying on one visibility number.

If you want to explore more AI SEO tools, I’ve also put together a guide to the best AI SEO tools.

Keyword Overview

Keyword research functionality is in the SE Ranking Research toolkit and offers most of the same keyword research tools you can find in other tools, including the Keyword Overview report.

Keyword Overview gives you a quick look at a keyword before you decide whether to include it in your strategy. It puts the main keyword data in one report, so you can get a basic idea of the query before digging deeper into the topic or checking the SERPs.

SE Ranking Keyword Overview Report September 2026

Keyword Suggestions

Other keyword research tools and reports include Keyword Suggestions, which is similar to Semrush’s Keyword Magic Tool.

The logic is pretty simple. You enter your seed keyword and get tons of keyword recommendations related to your seed keyword. You can filter this report however you want, including by SERP features, by search volumes, by keyword difficulty, word count, search intent, etc.

Before the wide implementation of AI, this was my favorite method to research keywords fast and effectively. Nowadays, you shouldn’t be doing this manually.

With tools like SE Ranking MCP, you can connect SE Ranking to your agent or any LLM and instruct it to find you keywords based on your needs. This has always worked for me, and this process is already part of a broader automation of SEO content strategy.

I’ve written more about how I automate my keyword research process in my SEO content strategy.

SE Ranking Keyword Suggestions report September 2026

I’ve just highlighted the two most frequently used keyword research features in my case. In fact, SE Ranking has got to offer more tools if you want to dig deeper, including:

  • SERP Overview and Organic SERP History to help you see how the AI search and organic search results have changed over time.
  • Ads History, showing you the most popular ads for your target keyword.
  • Keyword Manager to create and manage keyword lists to monitor rankings and other data.
  • Keyword Grouper, similar to Semrush’s Keyword Strategy Builder. The Keyword Grouper tool automatically buckets keywords into groups based on their SERP result similarity. Keywords are put together into clusters if they get similar results in Google’s top 10 SERPs. Keyword grouping allows you to distribute keywords wisely across a website’s pages, which is particularly important for SEO and contextual advertising.
  • Search Engine Autocomplete to get thousands of keyword ideas for your organic and paid search campaign.
  • Search Volume Checker to see statistics on the search volume a specific keyword gets on Google per month. This data will help you predict the traffic volume, evaluate the quality of your semantic core, and discover which keywords can be removed so that you don’t waste resources on promotion.
  • Index Status Checker allows you to verify if a web page has been indexed by a specific search engine.

Note that Keyword Grouper, Search Engine Autocomplete, Search Volume Checker, and Index Status Checker aren’t included in SE Ranking’s paid plans and require you to pay extra.

Keyword Grouper costs $0.004 per query, and the search volume check costs $0.005 per query. So, if you are planning to use them, keep that in mind.

I honestly wouldn’t consider paying extra for these tools, since I personally don’t see enough value to do so. You can easily check indexed pages for your own website for free with Google Search Console, or pretty much for any website using the search operator “site:”.

So, SE Ranking indeed offers lots of solutions for keyword research, but overall, I feel most likely you’ll benefit the most from Keyword Overview and Keyword Suggestions tools.

Website Audit

SE Ranking Website Audit report September 2026

The SE Ranking Website Audit report crawls your website and checks for technical and on-page SEO issues. It can find broken pages, redirects, duplicate content, indexability issues, missing metadata, internal linking issues, page performance issues, and other things that can make it harder for search engines to crawl and understand your site.

You can start with the overall website health score to get a general idea of what needs attention, then open each issue to see which pages are affected.

This is a pretty standard feature that you’ll find in most good SEO tools, including Semrush and Ahrefs.

As always, I’d take the recommendations with a grain of salt. Not every issue the tool finds needs to be fixed. Technical SEO tools can give you a long list of things to improve, but some of them may have little or no impact on your website.

In my case, the report flagged 199 “Internal links to 3XX redirect pages.” That does not automatically make all 199 instances a priority.

This is why you need to use your own judgment when prioritizing technical SEO fixes. Or, even better, you can train an LLM to help you review these recommendations and decide which issues actually matter. The goal is to make sure your important pages remain accessible to search engines and AI crawlers.

There’s another useful detail in the Website Audit report: your domain expiration date.

You’ll see it when you open the report, so it works as a simple reminder to check your domain renewal. If you don’t have automatic renewal turned on, this could save you from a pretty annoying problem.

I know this because it happened to me once. My website went offline, and I had no idea what was wrong. Eventually, I realized that I had simply forgotten to renew my domain.

So, if you use SE Ranking, this little reminder could help you avoid making the same mistake.

And now I have a question for you: have you ever used Screaming Frog?

The SE Ranking Crawl Report actually reminds me quite a bit of Screaming Frog. The main difference is that SE Ranking lets you crawl up to 500 pages for free. If your website has more than 500 pages, you’ll need a paid plan.

Inside the Crawl Report, you can also add different columns to check the health and accessibility of your pages. I find this report particularly useful when I want to quickly see what’s happening across a website.

SE Ranking Crawl Report September 2026

AI Results Tracker

AI Results Tracker analyzes LLM and AI search results for your prompts of interest. In the LLM answers, it tracks your brand’s and website’s presence and positions among mentions and source links.

You can also view the content of LLM answers for each date, URLs of sources provided, and more.

According to SE Ranking, its AI search infrastructure covers 25.5M+ AI prompts and 188 countries. The platform tracks AI search visibility across Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

SE Ranking also says its MCP connection gives AI assistants access to data from keyword research, domain analysis, backlinks, website audits, AI search visibility, and other areas of the platform.

One important thing to remember is that AI visibility data is based on a defined set of prompts rather than every possible question a real person could ask. SE Ranking itself describes this as its AI Search universe, so the absolute numbers are more useful for comparing domains within the same dataset than treating them as a complete measurement of all AI search activity.

This is similar to how I approach AI search data in general. I want to see trends and patterns, not pretend that any third-party tool can tell me exactly how often every possible user sees my brand in AI search.

SE Ranking AI Results Tracker September 2026

Prompt tracking with SE Ranking

With the SE Ranking Core plan, you get 100 prompts for tracking daily.

But let’s say you want to track the same prompt in 5 different AI tools. In this case, SE Ranking counts that you track 5 different prompts.

So, if I want to track my website’s performance in AI Mode, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, I can only track 20 prompts, since those are different prompts for each LLM, which quickly consumes my available limit of 100 prompts.

So, choose wisely what you want to track.

Prompt tracking with SE Ranking September 2026

I don’t recommend tracking suggested long-tail prompts for your AEO (answer engine optimization) activities unless you know exactly how your users search.

Different people can ask completely different questions while looking for the same answer. There’s also a chance that a very specific long-tail prompt will never be asked by a real user.

In this case, I suggest tracking high-level topics as prompts, similar to what we all got used to doing with keywords.

Because LLMs anyway use the query fan-out process when figuring out who to cite and mention in their responses.

What is query fan-out?

Instead of treating your original prompt as one fixed query, the system may break it into several related searches and subquestions. Those searches can cover definitions, comparisons, recommendations, supporting evidence, recent information, and other angles needed to build the final response.

For example, someone might ask an AI tool for the best SEO software for a small business. Behind the scenes, the model could explore variations related to pricing, ease of use, rank tracking, reporting, local SEO, and small-business use cases.

That’s why it is important to understand query fan-out before filling your tracker with dozens of tiny prompt variations. Two users can phrase a question differently and still trigger overlapping searches behind the scenes. Tracking every wording won’t necessarily give you a more accurate picture of your visibility.

A more practical approach is to track representative prompts for the high-level topics and intents that matter to your business. You can then use the full answers and cited sources to see which subtopics the AI engine explored, who it mentioned, and what type of content it relied on.

Content Marketing

SE Ranking’s Content Marketing Toolkit is for people who want to use SEO data to plan and create content for marketing needs.

Content Marketing Toolkit in SE Ranking has two main tools:

  1. Content Editor — this one can help you generate a brief based on your target keyword and create your first article.
  2. Content Idea Finder — it can help you analyze keywords in your niche and create a content strategy based on collected data. Get new topic ideas, choose relevant keywords, and create top-quality content with them.

Let me briefly comment on both tools since I’ve used them for my website.

Content Editor

Content Editor can be helpful if your job is to create optimized content, such as blog posts for rankings.

Here’s how Content Editor works:

It analyses the top 10 search results ranking for your target keyword, letting you pick the ones you’d want to take into account when generating a content brief.

You can also specify the word count, the number of headings, paragraphs, and images in the article. You are also suggested a list of related keywords, and you can select the ones to be used in the post.

What’s also great is that SE Ranking suggests related external links to be used in the post. You can select the ones that you want to be added to the post.

For answer engine optimization, you can pick recommended questions you want to use in the article. SE Ranking suggests questions based on the “People Also Ask” section from SERP and also competitor content.

Once you finish putting together a content brief, you can generate an optimized article in one click!

Note that I don’t suggest publishing AI-generated content on your website without humanizing it first, adding personalized content, and making a new content piece actually worth reading.

Otherwise, you risk losing your website’s performance over time because Google’s Core updates have been hitting websites with entirely generated content particularly hard.

I never publish AI-generated content on my website, Behind Rankings. Instead, I draft content, which takes around 3–5 hours, and then I use AI to write and edit the post using my tone of voice and writing style.

With the SE Ranking Core plan, you can generate 25 posts a month.

SE Ranking Content Editor September 2026

Content Idea Finder

Content Idea Finder can help you discover topics and keyword ideas for your niche. It is more useful at the earlier stage of content planning.

For me, this type of tool is most useful when I need to expand an existing content plan or look for topics I may have missed.

I still wouldn’t let a tool decide my entire content strategy. The data can help you find opportunities, but I want my own experience, audience, and business goals to shape what I actually publish.

The tool analyzes related searches in your niche and organizes keyword ideas into topic clusters. For each cluster, you can review the main topic, related terms, search volume, keyword difficulty, and other SEO or PPC metrics. You can also look at the titles competitors use in the top search results to understand how they approach the topic.

This is useful when you know your niche but aren’t sure what to publish next. It can also help content strategists build a topic cluster, spot supporting article ideas, and choose keywords based on actual search data rather than intuition alone.

Once you find a relevant cluster, you can open it for a deeper look, select the keywords you want to target, and send the idea directly to Content Editor. From there, you can turn the research into a brief and start drafting the article.

SE Ranking Content Idea Finder September 2026

Backlinks

SE Ranking offers two tools inside their Backlinks Toolkit:

  • Backlink Checker — you can get a full list of backlinks for any domain, complete with detailed data on each link.
  • Backlink Gap Analysis — it can help you discover domains/URLs that already link to your competitors but not to your domain/URL, and find backlinks that you have in common.

Backlink Checker

Backlink Checker gives you a detailed overview of the backlinks pointing to your website or any other domain of your interest. You can use it to inspect referring domains, individual backlinks, anchor text, target pages, and other link-level data.

The report includes the referring page and target URL, anchor text, link type, link status, first-seen and last-seen dates, and trust metrics for the linking domain and page. SE Ranking also provides a Toxicity Score to help flag backlinks that may deserve a closer look.

This tool can be useful in several cases:

You can audit your own backlink profile, check whether valuable links are still active, find broken or lost links, and spot suspicious patterns.

You can also analyze a competitor to see which pages attract the most links, what anchors other websites use, and where new outreach opportunities might exist.

Backlink Gap Analyzer

Backlink Gap Analyzer compares your backlink profile with up to five competitor domains or URLs.

By default, it shows referring domains and individual backlinks that point to at least one competitor but not to your website. You can also switch to a broader view to see the links you have in common.

The Referring Domains tab shows the linking domain, its Domain Trust score, the number of backlinks it sends, and which competitors receive those links. The Backlinks tab goes down to the individual link level and includes metrics such as Domain Trust, Page Trust, anchor text, and the source page.

SE Ranking can analyze up to 10,000 backlinks for each domain or URL in a gap report. You can filter and sort the results, then export potential opportunities in CSV or XLS format.

This tool is mainly for competitor research and link prospecting. If a relevant, trustworthy website links to several competitors but not to you, it may be worth investigating. You can look at the type of page that earned the link, decide whether you have something comparable or better, and add the site to a realistic outreach list.

SE Ranking Backlink Gap Analyzer September 2026

Local Marketing

SE Ranking offers a solid set of local SEO features for business owners who want to improve both their website rankings and Google Business Profile visibility.

Inside the Local Marketing tool, you get:

  • An overview report for reviewing your local business performance
  • A Local Rankings report covering all your listings, as shown in my screenshot below
  • A Local Marketing Audit that checks your Google Business Profile optimization and flags errors, fixes, and opportunities for improvement
  • Google Business Profile performance insights and post management
  • A central place to manage and update all your business listings without leaving SE Ranking
  • Review monitoring and response tools for your local business reviews

Overall, the functionality is very solid. In my opinion, it covers practically everything an individual local business owner needs from a local SEO tool.

The calculation looks different for agencies.

I work with hundreds of local business accounts, and SE Ranking can quickly become expensive at that scale, especially if you also need the API add-on for automations.

The monthly Core plan costs $129 and includes only three locations. Extra locations start at $18.40 each.

That is why we use other solutions for our local SEO agency work. Still, SE Ranking is definitely worth considering if you need a local SEO platform for your own business and want API access for automations.

SE Ranking Local Rankings report September 2026

Local Marketing Audit

The Local Marketing Audit checks how well your local business is set up across the signals that can affect its local visibility.

Instead of manually reviewing a Google Business Profile, listings, rankings, and other local SEO elements in separate tools, you can see the issues and recommended improvements in one report.

It is useful for spotting incomplete or inconsistent business information, weak profile optimization, citation problems, and other errors that may be holding a location back.

The audit does not do the work for you, but it can give you a checklist of what needs attention and where you should start.

This is particularly helpful for local business owners who do not have an in-house SEO specialist. Agencies and consultants can also use the report as a repeatable starting point when onboarding a new location, evaluating its current setup, or showing a client which fixes should be prioritized.

SE Ranking Local Marketing Audit September 2026

Google Business Profiles

You can manage your business profile directly inside the Local Marketing tool. In particular:

  • You can review, add, and edit your business listings.
  • You can see how your Google Business Profile performs across mobile and desktop search and Maps, including the keywords people use, direction requests, phone calls, and messages.
  • You can add, update, edit, and schedule your Google Business Profile posts.
  • You can review and manage all your business reviews.

Another useful option is connecting your SE Ranking account to your preferred LLM. You can then chat about your website performance or ask it to send daily performance updates to your inbox. That is what I do for my website.

The Local Marketing API offers read-only endpoints for the locations added to your account. You can retrieve location profiles and statistics, Google Business Profile reports, reviews, business listings and citations, local rankings, and audit reports.

You can access the data for analysis and reporting, but you cannot use the connection to complete the work itself. For example, you cannot automate Google Business Profile publishing or use the API to carry out other profile management processes. That kind of write access could save local teams a lot of time.

Hopefully, SE Ranking adds it in the future.

SE Ranking Google Business Profile report September 2026

Report Builder

Report Builder lets you create custom SEO reports using the metrics you want to share with clients or your team.

You can select the reporting period, choose the widgets and data you want to include, and schedule the finished report to arrive in your inbox.

For agencies, this is an easy way to create recurring client reports without exporting numbers from several parts of the platform every month.

In-house teams can use the same functionality to build reports for stakeholders rather than sharing a dashboard full of metrics nobody asked for.

The $129-per-month Core plan lets you build up to 10 custom reports. The $279-per-month Growth plan raises the limit to 30. If that is still not enough, the Enterprise plan offers a custom setup that can accommodate larger reporting needs.

I know this functionality is similar to the report builders in Semrush and Ahrefs. Still, I like how easily I can create a custom report with the exact metrics I care about. I can choose any reporting period I need and have the report delivered to my inbox.

Pretty good, right?

There is basically no need to set up another automation with agents or LLMs just to receive a recurring report.

Pros & Cons

After using SE Ranking for seven months, I think there is a lot to like here, but there are also a few things I would change.

The platform has a strong feature set, especially for teams that want traditional SEO and AI search data in one place, but user experience could definitely be better.

Pros

  • It combines SEO and AI search functionality at a relatively affordable starting price. The Core plan starts at $129 per month.
  • The entry plan includes generous limits. You get 10 projects, five domains for GEO research, 2,000 tracked keywords, and 100 prompts across ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Perplexity. That is more value than many competing tools offer at a similar price point.
  • API and MCP access are available. You can connect your SE Ranking account to your preferred LLM or agent and work with the platform’s data outside its interface.
  • SE Ranking MCP can be purchased without a SE Ranking subscription. The standalone pay-as-you-go option starts at $50 for 250,000 credits, which is useful if you need the data connection but not the complete platform.
  • There are solutions for different types of customers. Growing businesses, agencies, and enterprises can choose limits and functionality that fit their setup rather than relying on one rigid package.
  • AI search positions and organic keyword rankings are reported separately. I appreciate this distinction because ranking in an AI Overview and ranking in the traditional organic results are not the same thing.

Cons

  • The navigation can be confusing. This has bothered me for a while. For example, if you click AI Results Tracker under the AI Search tab, you get sent to the Projects tab instead. The same thing happens with a few other tools, including Website Audit. It’s not a huge issue, but I think the navigation could be a lot more straightforward.

  • Some reports take a while to load. This could be something specific to my account, but I’ve had issues with some reporting widgets taking a very long time to load. For example, I could never see the AI Search Tracker results for my personal project because the report simply wouldn’t load.

  • API access is mostly read-only. You can pull SE Ranking data into an LLM or an automation workflow, but there’s not much you can actually change inside the platform through the API.

  • Read-only access can limit more advanced automation. This probably won’t be an issue if you mainly want to analyze data. But if you want an LLM or AI agent to actually do things inside SE Ranking, such as fix local business listings, the current API limitations can become a problem.

SE Ranking MCP connector

With SE Ranking MCP, you can connect SE Ranking data directly to any LLM, such as Claude or another AI agent.

This is very useful because instead of manually opening SEO reports, exporting data, and copying it into an LLM, you can let your LLM pull SE Ranking data directly.

SE Ranking expanded its API offering with data on AI search, technical site audit, domain analysis, keyword research, and backlinks. To make this data easier to use across workflows, SE Ranking also introduced integrations with Looker Studio, Make, n8n, and MCP Server.

The data your queries run on includes:

  • 5.5B keywords database
  • 100% accurate keyword rankings
  • 188 country database
  • 25.5M+ AI prompts tracked
  • 2.2B domain profiles

MCP is included in every SE Ranking subscription and runs on your plan’s API credits. If you want MCP on its own, without a full subscription, you can also use it with a pay-as-you-go API plan.

For SEOs who need API access to SEO data without the tools, SE Ranking also provides separate API access for:

  • Backlinks API
  • Domain Research API
  • Keyword Research API
  • Website Audit API
  • AI Search API
  • Project Management API

As of September 2026, SE Ranking gives you access to 146 tools as a part of the MCP connector. I use Claude to manage my day-to-day and SEO tasks, so I could easily connect it via the MCP: https://api.seranking.com/mcp

Note that most tools give read-only access, which means you’ll be able to pull data directly from SE Ranking for analysis.

SE Ranking MCP connector to Claude September 2026

The screenshot below shows one example from my own website. I asked Claude to analyze my top traffic-generating keywords that also trigger AI Overviews.

Claude used SE Ranking data to organize the results into a clear table. It gave me a useful view of the keywords driving both organic and AI search performance without requiring me to export and sort the information manually.

That is only one MCP use case. You can pull, organize, sort, and analyze many types of SE Ranking data, then use that data in automations.

If you use an AI agent platform, you can connect SE Ranking there too. I use Gumloop, for example, so I can bring SE Ranking data into agents built for SEO automations.

What Users Say

My experience is only one data point, so I also looked at what other users say about SE Ranking.

SE Ranking has an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 from more than 1,600 reviews on G2. Users frequently praise its broad feature set, which aligns with my experience. They also highlight the keyword research functionality, rank tracking tools, and ease of use.

Some reviewers describe SE Ranking as expensive. I do not fully agree with that criticism because many all-in-one SEO platforms cost more. Other users mention the learning curve and limitations within the platform, which is closer to what I noticed while testing it.

SE Ranking’s Trustpilot rating is 4.3 out of 5 based on 708 reviews, and the feedback is broadly consistent with what users share on G2.

Positive reviews often mention the range of SEO features, rank tracking, responsive customer support, and the value of having several workflows in one platform. Critical reviews tend to focus on pricing, billing or subscription frustrations, occasional data or usability concerns, and features that do not always work as expected.

That mix makes sense to me. SE Ranking covers a lot, but a large feature set can also create a learning curve and make navigation feel less intuitive.

I normally check Reddit for user quotes, too. This time, however, I could not find testimonials with genuinely useful details rather than emotional reactions.

Most of the SE Ranking discussions I found were fairly old and expressed frustration without enough context or evidence to evaluate the claims. I have left a link to all the relevant Reddit threads I could find, so you can dig through them yourself if you want to.

I would not base a buying decision entirely on other people’s testimonials anyway. Their opinions reflect their needs, expectations, and experience, not yours.

The more useful approach is to test SE Ranking during its 14-day free trial and see whether the features, limits, interface, and data fit the way you work.

Pricing

SE Ranking currently has three main plans:

  • Core: $129 per month, or $103.20 per month with annual billing. It includes 10 projects, one manager seat, 2,000 keywords and 100 AI prompts tracked daily, five domains in GEO research, 250,000 audited pages per month, 25,000 API credits, and MCP access.
  • Growth: $279 per month, or $223.20 per month with annual billing. It includes 30 projects, three manager seats, 5,000 keywords and 250 AI prompts tracked daily, 15 domains in GEO research, two million audited pages per month, 100,000 API credits, and MCP access.
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing and limits for larger organizations that need more capacity, integrations, support, or flexible terms.

SE Ranking offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. The trial has starter limits, but it is enough to create projects, track keywords, test the research and audit tools, and decide whether the platform works for you. There is no permanent free SE Ranking plan, although the company offers several individual free tools on its website.

You can cancel from your account settings by turning off renewal. Your access continues through the paid term. Payments are generally non-refundable unless the service was not delivered as promised or a specific promotion states otherwise, so I would test the platform before committing to an annual plan.

SE Ranking add-ons

The add-ons are useful when the base plan is a good fit, but one limit or agency feature is not.

  • Agency Pack: $69 per month with annual billing. It adds agency-focused features such as 30 client seats, white-label access and reporting, unlimited scheduled reports with AI summaries, Agency Catalog placement, and a Lead Generator. This is mainly for agencies that need client-facing deliverables and branded reporting.
  • Extra tracked keywords: From $22.40 on Core and $32 on Growth. This is useful when your project count is sufficient, but your rank-tracking list exceeds the included allowance.
  • Extra content articles: From $39.20. This suits content teams that use SE Ranking’s Content Marketing features more heavily than the included plan limits allow.
  • Extra Local Marketing locations: From $18.40 per location. This makes sense for multi-location businesses and smaller agencies, although the cost can add up quickly when you manage hundreds of profiles.
  • Additional API capacity: API credits and standalone API packages are available for teams building reports, products, or automations around SE Ranking data. The pay-as-you-go MCP and API offer starts at $50 for 250,000 credits, while the higher-volume standalone API is listed from $179 per month with annual billing.

SE Ranking also lets customers purchase extra limits such as keywords or seats where available. Enterprise customers can request custom limits instead of stacking many smaller add-ons.

Planable

SE Ranking also offers Planable, a separate social media management platform for planning, collaboration, approvals, analytics, and publishing across channels.

Planable starts at $33 per month when offered through the SE Ranking bundle, which includes a 20% bundle discount. On Planable’s standard pricing, the Basic plan costs $39 per workspace per month or $396 per year, while Pro costs $59 per workspace per month or $588 per year. Enterprise pricing is customized.

Planable also has a free option limited to 50 total posts, with no time limit and no credit card required. Its paid add-ons include Analytics at $14 per workspace per month and Social Inbox at $9 per workspace per month.

Planable could be relevant for you if your team wants to automate social media processes.

FAQ

I’d say yes, but you should use the reported data as estimates, not as an absolute truth.

The Core plan costs $129 per month, and Growth costs $279 per month. Annual billing reduces the effective monthly prices to $103.20 and $223.20, respectively. Enterprise pricing is custom. Add-ons, extra locations, extra limits, and standalone API usage can increase the final cost.

If the fit is not right, my guide to SE Ranking alternatives covers the other platforms I have tested hands-on.

SE Ranking is often the better-value choice for teams that want an all-in-one SEO and AI search platform with generous tracking limits, reporting, MCP, and local marketing features at a lower starting price. Semrush may be a better fit if you need its larger ecosystem, data depth, or specific advanced workflows.

I use Semrush in my own stack, but SE Ranking offers more than enough functionality for many businesses and agencies.

It can be. The Core plan delivers strong value if you use several parts of the platform, such as rank tracking, research, audits, GEO tracking, reporting, and MCP. It may be less cost-effective for an agency managing hundreds of local business locations because extra locations and automation requirements can raise the price quickly.

Yes. SE Ranking is a legitimate SEO platform with established products that have been on the market for 13 years, with thousands of public user reviews.

SE Ranking offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. It does not have a permanent free plan for the complete platform, although several individual free SEO tools are available on its website.

Yes. White-label platform access and reporting are available through the Agency Pack, which costs $69 per month with annual billing. The add-on also includes client seats, unlimited scheduled reporting with AI summaries, Agency Catalog placement, and a Lead Generator.
